what a week, part 2

i don't think i've ever turned down an invite to a concert and that trend was not broken this week when i went to hear duran duran (yep) at the barrymore theater off times square. i went with the irish crew, if that explains anything. growing up in northern ireland, my friend carol would stare dreamily at her posters of the not-exactly-fab-four, with a particular yearning for nick rhodes (the keyboardist, i learned). in order to make sure this evening was no fairytale meeting ala katie holmes and her time-warped tom cruise, carol's beau eamonn came along, with dubliner emily jane for additional backup. aside from all this, it was amazing to see a crowd that still believed the 80's was a decade with so much carry-over style. oh the outfits, the makeup, the dancing... and yet! a foxy yasmin le bon snuck around, checking out the crowd, clad in drainpipe jeans and a so-precicely tailored jacket that i really wanted to get a closer look at. as carol put it, she was totally safe.
