opening night at the abt

i have certainly been a slacker about josiebird updates, which is to say i have been darn busy. but not too busy to catch the opening of the ballet on monday night at lincoln center, which is always a sight for ballet lovers and fashion lovers. here are a few pix from voge online... that's olivier theyskens looking slightly diminutive next to lauren santo domingo, in nina ricci.

and, my favorite, marina rust, in nina ricci. i should back up and say that since nina ricci is a sponsor of abt this year the event was a bit of a runway show (i mean, with olivier theyskens why not?)

another favorite, kelly ripa in roberto cavalli.

tory burch, nina ricci..

oh, but the dancers! that's irina dvorovenko. so pretty, so talented, having danced a piece with her husband, maxim beloserkovsky. yes, those are the trumps. we will have to assume they are helping to pay the tab.

oscar

It is really hard to say what I will miss most about Oscar. People keep reminding me of different things. But most of all they remind me of how widely loved he was. As news of his death is getting around, I am receiving calls, notes and e-mails from friends and neighbors, neighbors' visitors, people who brought their kids/parents/significant-others to meet him, people who claimed they did not like cats, people who actually are quite allergic to cats. Laura and Perry dubbed him "The Cat Ambassador" for exactly this reason.

Georgie had a theory that in a past life, Oscar was a monk who wanted to come back for a lifetime of little complication, fulfilled needs and lots of love. He certainly got that. And I guess on that note, he is heading somewhere else to be a light for others.

Thanks for 12 charmed years.

spring break

lovely hopetown in the bahamas looks like a little new england village all pasteled up and sitting in the sun. one flies into marsh harbor and takes a boat across to the island which is remarkably free of transport vehicles, other than bikes.
